Pakistan vs England 2nd Test Highlights – 8th Dec 2022

Pitch Report and Condition

There have only been seven first-class matches played in Multan since 2018, with five ending in draws, and the stats suggest it is the most batting-friendly ground in use for this series. Mohammad Yousuf, Pakistan’s batting coach who averaged 86.16 from four Test appearances in Multan during the 2000s, reportedly travelled up before the end of the Pindi Test to speak to the curator – whether or not that results in a turning surface more to the hosts’ liking remains to be seen. Air pollution could also be a factor, with the potential for morning smog to further squeeze the playing hours.

Pakistan

The home team’s concerns will be centred around their best bowling combination, and with the likes of Mohammad Nawaz, and the in-form spinner Abrar Ahmed who has come into the squad on the back of a good domestic season, amongst the back-up options, they’d be forced to rethink their combination from the Rawalpindi Test.

England

The visitors have announced their playing eleven, making only one change from the first Test. We will have the same mindset over the next five days and hopefully everything we do can contribute to us leaving here two-nil up – Ben Stokes promises no change in England’s new-found attacking attitude in Test cricket.
