India vs Sri Lanka

India vs Sri Lanka 2nd ODI Highlights – 12 Jan 2023

Rohit Sharma India Captain

I was in two minds. Wanted to bat first because of how we played last time, but looking at this ground, I wanted to field. Overall, improvements are as a team, nothing in particular. What we’ve done in the past is in the past, we need to look ahead and keep doing better. I love playing here, the crowd is also energetic and that motivates me always.

But it is in the past, I need to start fresh. One enforced change for us, Chahal in the last game put in a dive and hasn’t recovered well today, so Kuldeep Yadav comes in.

Dasun Shanaka Sri Lanka Captain

We’ll bat first. Very good wicket to bat first, also looking at the venue stats. Important to score, be relaxed and play our natural game. Two changes – Madushanka (shoulder injury) and Pathum Nissanka out (stiff back), Nuwanidu Fernando gets a debut and Lahiru Kumara is back.

Sri Lanka have won the TOSS and chose bat first

India vs Sri Lanka Cricket Highlights today. 2nd ODI, Eden Gardens, Kolkata, Wednesday 12-01-2023, Sri Lanka tour to India.

Pitch Report and Condition

Eden Gardens last hosted an ODI more than five years ago when India, batting first, were all out for 252. In response, Australia folded for just 202. There is no forecast of rain, but it could be hazy at times. During the daytime, the temperature will be around 25°C but could drop by more than 10° at night.

India

There was much debate about putting Ishan Kishan on the bench based on his recent form, but Shubman Gill added to the dilemma as he scored a 60-ball 70 in the series opener. With the ball, Umran Malik repaid the faith put in him with wickets in the middle-overs. India should retain the same XI that earned them the series lead.

Sri Lanka

Dilshan Madushanka dismissed Rohit but had a middling debut otherwise, finishing with figures of 1 for 43. Lahiru Kumara in his place could be an experienced option. Left-arm spinner Dunith Wellalage was ineffective too, and could make way for Maheesh Theekshana.
